McKENZIE, Esther Horbal 95, passed away February 20, 2013 in Weston. A longtime resident of Wellesley Hills, and previously of New Canaan, CT, Esther was an avid gardener who cherished the natural world. Born June 26, 1917 in Middleboro, MA, she graduated from Simmons College in 1940 to begin her career as a therapeutic dietician. She worked at the Norwalk and Greenwich Hospitals in CT until 1967, and at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital until her retirement in 1985. Preceded in death by her parents, Wasyl and Marina Horbal, her brother, Stephen Horbal, and her husband, Francis W. McKenzie, she is survived by her three children: a daughter, Kendra J. MacKenzie of Yonkers, NY and Wellesley Hills, MA; a son, Keith T. McKenzie of Littleton, CO; a daughter, Kristen F. McKenzie of Highlands Ranch, CO. and Taos, N.M; and a beloved granddaughter, Chantal M. Underkofler of Highlands Ranch, CO, her husband Jon, and two great-grandsons, Chase and Blake Underkofler. A memorial celebration is planned in April in Wellesley Hills, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2042 Beacon St., Newton, MA 02468. Henry J.
