Ascolese, Francis W. "Frank"
Of Venice, Florida and Newton Highlands, MA passed away on October 5, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 26, 1927 to the late Anthony and Josephine Ascolese of Newton Highlands, MA. Beloved brother of Deacon Michael Ascolese and his wife Jean of Cincinnati, Ohio and his sister Barbara Cocca of Newton Highlands, MA. Dear uncle of Timothy Ascolese, Mark Ascolese (Barbara), Christopher Ascolese (Margaret), Richard Ascolese (Robin), Kevin Ascolese, Christine Fopiano (Michael), Jacqueline Fiore (Bill) and Theresa Catino (Steven). He will be greatly missed by his great nieces and nephews and his great-great nieces and nephews, especially Melissa and Sara Fopiano and Stephanie Catino. A retired physicist, Frank held degrees in physics, astronomy and chemical engineering from Boston University and Northeastern University. He had an extensive engineering and research background acquired from his association with, Arthur D. Little Inc., High Voltage Engineering Corp. and Harvard College Observatory. He was employed by the Fermilab in Batavia, Illinois and Brookhaven National Laboratory in Long Island, NY building particle accelerators. He also taught in public and private schools in the Boston area and lectured extensively at universities across the United States. Upon his retirement, he became an engineer design consultant. He was a former Little League coach, past Grand Knight of the Crozier Council, Sacred Heart Parish, Newton Centre, MA, a former member of the Bellport Rotary Club
in Long Island, NY and was an active member with the Florida West Coast Symphony. He was an avid golfer and had a great love of music. A celebration of his life will be held on November 10, 2012 at 12 PM at the Newton Cemetery Chapel. Burial will be private. At the family's request donations in his name may be made to the
