Harriss, James M "Jim"
93, died surrounded by family in his home in Revere on Friday evening, August 9, 2013. Born October 1, 1919 in Wilmington, NC, to Esther Harriss. He was predeceased by his wife of 17 years, Martha "Pat" (Mather) Harriss, originally from Manchester England. Jim served in the US Coast Guard from 1940 to 1962 where he became an expert cook and took those skills to McLean Hospital for 25 years until his retirement. Jim will be remembered for his kindness, intelligence and sense of humor. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Sarah Harriss of Revere, MA, Victoria Harriss Provost, her husband Mark and their children Ella and Naomi of Hamilton, MA. Jim leaves his partner of 20 years, Anne Calcaterra of Arlington, MA. He also leaves Maria (Calcaterra) Hood, her husband Peter, their sons, Kyle and Ryan, Anita Cristina Calcaterra, her partner Leah Gilbert who considered him part of their family. His cousins Harold Harris, his wife Lucinda of MD, their children, Greg Lanier of CA, Pamela Harris of NC and Fran (Harris) Fulcher, her husband Nathan and their children, Grace and Maxx of FL. Jim also leaves many beloved friends and extended family. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Stephen's Memorial Episcopal Church in Lynn, MA. A reception will follow at the church and all are welcome to share memories of a life well lived.
