DURKIN, James P., Jr. Of Falmouth, passed away on March 3, 2013 at 88 years old. Beloved husband for over 61 years to Ruth (Andrews) Durkin of Falmouth. Devoted father of Kathy Hobin and her husband Jim of Milford, Paul Durkin and his wife Doreen of Norton, the late Karen Durkin, John Durkin and his wife Judy of Groton, Mary Durkin Smith and her husband Robert of Framingham, Patricia Durkin Smith and her husband Kevin of Natick, and Joe Durkin and his wife Jessica of Westford. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Jenny, Nicholas, Emily, Thomas, Katlyn, Ryan, Melissa, Michael, Sean, Melissa C. and 1 great grandchild Jeremy. Jim was predeceased by his grandson, John Jr. Jim was born in Somerville and attended Somerville High School. Jim was a veteran, having served his country in World War II and the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp. Back from the wars, Jim was an engineer by trade and went to night school for 17 years to get a BS in Engineering from Northeastern University and MBA from Babson College. Jim loved music, had a beautiful singing voice and sang for many years at the church at Saint Anthony's. He also loved to read and write, and always stressed the importance of education to his entire family. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, March 7th at the Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St., Falmouth Center. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday at St. Anthony's Church, 167 E. Falmouth Hwy., E. Falmouth. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Fenwick St., Framingham, MA.
