McCluskey, Capt. Joseph F.
94, of Venice, Florida died February 16, 2013 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born August 12, 1918 in Polson, Montana, and grew up in Winthrop, MA. He was married to the late Eleanor (Mortimer) McCluskey, his wife of 61 years. He raised his family in Stoneham, MA. Eleanor and he moved to Venice 29 years ago. He is survived by his sons, Richard and his wife Lois of Kennebunk, ME, and Steven and his wife Ginny of Maple Grove MN. His surviving daughters are: Maureen and Charles Gates of Lakeville MA, Joan and William Brown of Englewood FL, Eleanor and Larry Marino of Hampton NH., Patricia and Anthony Rosanio of Methuen MA., and his sister, Mary McCluskey of Boston, MA. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 23 great grand children. He served in the United States Army during WWII, and served the people of Massachusetts as a police officer and detective on the MDC / State Police. He retired as a Captain. He also retired later as a Captain from the MIT Police. When asked what was most important to him his answer was "my family" A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 9 Pomeworth Ave, Stoneham, MA on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 10:00 am.
