Wu, Lucy Shen
Long time resident of Cambridge, Massachusetts, passed away on October 21, 2013, at 8 a.m. Mrs. Wu was born in Shanghai, China, in 1915, to Mr. Y.T. Shen and Madame Li Shu Yun. A graduate (1935) of St. Mary's Hall (American Episcopal Church Mission) in Shanghai, she attended Wellesley College, earned her B.Sc. from Simmons College in 1940, then attended Columbia University Teachers' College in New York City. She trained as a dietitian at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and was a member of the American Dietetic Association. She was also a Diplomate of the Institute of Education of the University of Birmingham in England. Mrs. Wu taught in China and Hong Kong and served as Inspector of Schools in the Hong Kong Education Department until her retirement in 1970. After moving back to the United States in 1970, Mrs. Wu served as Assistant to the Registrar in the Arts and Sciences Registrar's Office of Harvard University until her second retirement in 1989. Mrs. Wu was the wife of William Tien-te Wu, who passed away in 1996. She is survived by her daughters May Mei-wen Wu of Manhattan, New York and Jean Yu-wen Wu of Medford, Massachusetts. Funeral services will be private.
