Durant, Margaret (Utter) "Peggy"
87, of Exeter, NH, formerly of Weston, MA and Westerly, RI, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born in Providence, RI on August 15, 1926, to Wilfred and Ruth Utter. Peggy was the beloved wife of the late John H. Durant. Peggy attended Walnut Hill School, Wells College and received a Masters in Retailing from Simmons College. She lived in Weston for 60 years and was an active member of The Junior League of Boston, The Vincent Club, The Chilton Club, The First Parish Church of Weston, The Weston Garden Club and The Weston Friendly Society. A cancer survivor, she was a devoted volunteer at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. As a travel agent, her 30 year career enabled her and John to travel to all corners of the world. In addition, they enjoyed cruising the New England coast with family and friends. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, John Durant. She is survived by 3 children: Durrie D. Golding of Peekskill, NY, Amy D. Solomon of Washington, DC, and John U. Durant of Hopkinton, NH and 5 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 29 at 10 a.m. at The First Parish Church of Weston, 349 Boston Post Road, Weston, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy's memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
