MARY WHITNEY SWANSON

Swanson, Mary Whitney
Of Medfield, on February 14, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Norwood, Massachusetts. Mary had just celebrated her 94th birthday on January 17th. Mary was born, in Boston, to Alice Boos Foster and Nelson Whitney. She lived in South Natick, Dedham and Medfield where she was a resident for over sixty years. She attended Dana Hall and Pine Manor schools. She married Lennard T. Swanson, presently at Sunrise of Norwood, in 1950. They were married at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Dedham. Mary will be remembered as one who loved to travel. She made needlepoint or embroidered Christmas Stockings for each of her children's spouses and each of her sixteen grandchildren. She loved Dachshunds, driving, flowers, knitting, sewing and reading, but most especially her devoted family and friends. Love, laughter and lunch! Mary was an active member of both the Hannah Adams Women's Club and the Medfield Garden Club. Mary is survived by her beloved husband Lennard, her children: Alice A. Caffrey and her husband Andrew Caffrey, Jr., of Greenwich, New Jersey; Arthur W. Swanson and his wife, Janet, of York, Maine; Margaret S. Schleiff and her husband, Florian, of Renick, West Virginia; and Paul W. Swanson and his wife, Jane, of Franklin, Massachusetts; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to Hannah Adams Women's Club, and Dana Hall School, 45 Dana Rd., Wellesley, MA 02482. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
