NANCY L. BROMBERGER(1925 - 2014)

BROMBERGER, Nancy L. Died at home on April 4, 2004 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, formerly a resident of Newton, Massachusetts and a summer resident of West Tisbury, Massachusetts. Nancy was the wife of Sylvain Bromberger, the mother of Allen and Daniel Bromberger, and grandmother of Abigail and Eliza Bromberger and of Michael Barrows. Nancy was the daughter of Helen and David E. Lilienthal. Her father was the first director of the Tennessee Valley Authority and the first commissioner of the Atomic Energy Commission. Nancy Bromberger was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 5, 1925 attended High School in Norris Tennessee and obtained her Bachelor degree and Master degree in economics from then Radcliffe College, now Harvard University. Nancy did research in economics before devoting herself full time to raising her two sons, then became an editor and proof reader of scientific books and scientific journals published by Harvard University Press and MIT Press. Nancy was so spectacularly good at her proof-reading of very complex and diverse publications that Linguistic Inquiry carried her name as an emerita for a number of years.
