Eleanor and family: I am devastated to hear the news of Panos' passing. He was a beacon at St. Demetrios, Alpha Omega and every Greek American community event. One of both my parents' favorite people, I came to depend upon him in the early years of the Peter Agris Memorial Journalism Scholarships. Your loss is enormous. His memory most definitely will be eternal in the hearts and minds of his family, his Ellada, his beloved parish and community. My deepest sympathies.

Panos was always so kind, friendly, and complimentary to everyone he met. A true Christian gentleman that will sincerely be missed.

Ellie, Dimitri, and Dorothy, our warmest condoleances for losing your and our dearest Panos, the leader of the Greek MIT students of 60's and 70's. He had helped one way or another almost all of us there.
He was optimistic and indefatigable. He was bold and tender to drive midnight to NY to ask Ellie to marry him and bold and proud, many years later, to stop the parade (parelasi) to knee in front of the dignitaries in Thessaloniki to plea for Macedonia.
He was always smiling and eager to succeed in his efforts, he was THE man behind the lamb each Easter at Talbot House. I remember him digging the snow to preserve the lamb, and deep enough so that animals do not get hold of our food. His effort and travels for the Alumni would classify him "more" Alumnus than the founder of MIT.
Along with Ellie they were excellent friends and they married us and baptized Vassilis.
He was the only person I have known that he actually realized so much respect to his past family. Every year he would go all the way to Vresthena to pay his respect to the tombs of his parents.
Panos "left" early but he was blessed to see his family the way he wanted.
I firmly believe, Ellie, you will be blessed to be emotionally and physically strong to be raising the Greek-US-ElPaDoDi flags every day without fail for many years to come.
With love to you and the kids

Panos was an inspiration to us and to many. He was always among the first to take the initiative, leading his community by unifying, planning, fund raising and speaking out so eloquently for those causes he was so passionate about. His heritage and his church are where we often witnessed his unwavering dedication. Thank you, Panos. You will be greatly missed. May your memory be eternal! Peter and Olga Bassett
