Renzella, Peter A.
A long-time resident of Watertown, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday morning, August 18, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. He was 92 years old. Peter was born in Malden, MA on January 3, 1921. He was the fifth child & second son of Italian immigrants, the late Bartholomew and Elizabeth. He grew up & was educated in Malden. He married his wife Carmela in 1948 & they settled in Watertown to raise their family. Peter was a dedicated husband & loving father & supported his family as a welder. He worked at a variety of locations throughout his career, including the Quincy Shipyard. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Watertown, the Sons of Italy in Newton & the American Legion Nonantum Post 440 in Newton, where he was also a member of the Honor Guard. Peter served his country in the US Coast Guard & was a veteran of WWII
. Peter enjoyed golfing, playing cards, going to church, watching the Red Sox & was an avid wrestling fan. He also enjoyed working around his home & in his garden & spending time with his family. Peter resided in Seabrook NH before recently returning back to Watertown. Peter was the loving husband of the late Carmela (Salvucci) Renzella. He was the loving father of Diane Renzella of Newton, Donna Ripley & her husband Robert of Waltham, Deborah Beck & her husband Arthur of Waltham, Darlene Entwisle & her husband Larry of San Diego, Daniel Renzella & his wife Debbie of Watertown & David Renzella of San Diego. He was the brother of Mary DiGiacomo of Malden, Yolanda DiBattista of Malden, Albert Renzella of Malden, Frank Renzella of Malden, the late Margaret DiGiacomontonio, Joseph Renzella & Katherine Drinkwater. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Tony Salvucci & his wife Carol of N.C., 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren & many nieces, nephews & relatives. Funeral from the Nardone Funeral Home 373 Main St., WATERTOWN, on Saturday at 10:00 am followed by an 11:00 am funeral mass in St. Patrick's Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4 to 8 PM. Donations in Peter's memory may be made to The Jimmy Fund.
