McMAHON, Thomas Clayton Passed away on October 2, 2013, in Palm Beach, Florida. Tom was the son of William Harry McMahon and Edna Davidson McMahon born in 1929. Tom married the love of his life Diane Webster in 1957. He leaves four children, William B. and his wife Karen of West Barnstable, MA, Thomas W. and wife Diane of Jupiter, FL, Stephen and his wife Amy of Farmington, MN, and Suzanne and her partner Dan of Jupiter, FL. He leaves his grandchildren Emily, Taylor, Richie, Olivia, Jackson and Sam. Tom was predeceased by a son Douglas and a brother Richard McMahon of Cleveland, OH. Tom graduated from Waltham High School in 1947. He received a BS Degree in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University and a Masters Degree in Sanitary/Civil Engineering from Northeastern University. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War, designing and building Pontoon Bridges for troops to cross rivers during battle. After the War, he started a family in Cohasset, Massachusetts. His first job was as a Civil Engineer with Metcalf and Eddy Engineers in Boston. A few years later, Tom was sworn in by Governor Volpe as the Director of Water Pollution Control for Mass the CommonWealth of Massachusetts. He completed 30 years of State Service and helped pin the Clear Waters Act and received the Harrison Eddy Award for Engineering Excellence. Tom was an avid golfer and was a single digit for most of his life. He had 8 hole in ones and played at Marshfield Country Club and Cohasset Golf Club in Massachusetts, Cypress Links and Frenchmans Reserve in Florida. He loved all sports, fishing, jogging and electronics. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 5th from 11-1 PM, Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, JUPITER.
