BARRON, William J. Deputy Chief, Quincy Fire Department, Retired, age 93, of Braintree, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully at home, Tuesday, April 16, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Doris M. (Gately) Barron. Devoted father of William J. Barron, Jr., Q.F.D. and his wife Nancy of Quincy, Joseph P. Barron, Chief, Q.F.D. and his wife Patricia of Plymouth, Mary E. (MacDonald) Forrester and her husband Robert of Braintree, Jean M. Delisle and her husband Gerald of Portsmouth, RI, Gerri Predella and her husband, Alan, Braintree F.D. of Marshfield, Joanne Martin and her husband Thomas of Braintree. Cherished grandfather of fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, QUINCY, Saturday, April 20th at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Bill retired from the Quincy Fire Department after thirty-five years of service. He was also the owner and operator, with his late wife Doris, of the former Mug & Muffin Restaurants in Braintree and Plymouth. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy.
