BLACKETT, William J. "Bill" 80, of Scarborough, ME. formerly of Reading, Mass., died quickly and peacefully early Sunday morning, January 20, 2013 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on February 9, 1932, Bill served in the U.S Army during the Korean War. After completing his service, Bill graduated from Boston College. He married fellow Boston College alum and the love of his life, the former Ms. Elenore Doherty, and remained happily married until her death in 2003. Beloved by his family and friends; his storytelling skills knew no bounds. Bill's greatest joy was sharing in the activities and accomplishments of his grandchildren. He leaves behind a loving family of seven children, William and his wife Laurel, of East Kingston, N.H., Jeanne Harmon and her husband Ford, of Houston, Texas, David and his wife Robbie, of Lexington, Mass., Clare LaBrecque and her husband Scott, of Falmouth, Maine, Christine Blackett of Wellesley, Mass., Susan Myers and her husband Bill, of Falmouth, Maine, and Carrie Bolton and her husband Brian of Groton, Mass. He was also the adored grandfather of 19 grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave. Portland.
