Hegarty, William Patrick Of Medford Dec 29, 2012 William Patrick. A U.S. Army Veteran and long time member of Local 88 Miner Union, died in Antigua Guatemala he was 63. Beloved son of the late John and Sabina (Farrantie) Hegarty of Medford. Born in Boston, moved to Medford in 1955, Mr. Hegarty was a 1967 graduate of Medford High School. He traveled extensively during his life, he enjoyed motorcycles, reading, history, photography and art. During the Viet Nam war he served with the U.S. Army 1st pysop Battalion ( Airborne ) JFK Special Warfare Center Fort Bragg N.C. After the service he attended the Museum School of Art in Boston. Mr. Hegarty was a trained Heavy equipment operator and long time sandhog with local 88, he worked on the T Red line extension tunnel and Westbough Aqueduct tunnel among other construction jobs. He is survived by three brothers, David of Medford, Terrance of Malden and Kevin of West Palm Beach FL., a sister Joan Quigley of Stoneham, eight nephews and four nieces. Relatives and friends invited a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Saint Francis of Assisi Church Medford on Saturday Oct. 12, at 10 am. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery Medford.
