PHILPOT, William R. Of Somerville, passed away Thursday January 3, 2013. He was born in Norwood, MA, the son of the late Andrew and Helen (Plaisted) Philpot. He was raised and educated in Limerick, ME. Bill (Rodney) served his country honorably during the Korean War. Bill and his wife Rita then moved to Somerville where they have lived for over 50 years. Bill was predeceased by his parents, his sister Rachel, brothers Ronnie, Louis, and Richard. Beloved husband of Rita (LaCroix) of 54 years, his son Michael and his wife Vita of Medford and Russell and his wife Lynne of Sterling. Devoted grandfather of Sarah and Lindsey of Sterling, Christopher, Curtis, and Max of Medford. Brother of Robert of TX, Leon of AL, Gerry of NC, Daniel of Topsfield, Frances of TX, Ruth, Julia, and Priscilla all of ME. Bill was a very active member of St. Ann's Church in Somerville for over 50 years and the St. Vincent de Paul Society for over 40 years. He was a recipient of the prestigious St. Vincent de Paul Top Hat Award in 2005. Bill was a retiree of A.W. Hastings & Co. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 19 in Somerville. He was an avid vegetable gardener. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., (Rt.60, adjacent to St. Agnes Church) ARLINGTON on Tuesday at 9 am. Funeral Mass at Saint Ann's Church, Somerville at 10 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 pm. Burial in Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford, ME on Wednesday at 12 pm.
