PERRY W. MORTON

MORTON, Perry W. Of Marblehead, a pioneer in middle-market investment banking in Boston, died April 19, 2018. He was 78 years old. Mr. Morton was Managing Director of Baldwin and Clarke Corporate Finance Inc., a leading investment banking firm located in Boston and Bedford, NH. Previously, he was Managing Director of Advest, Inc. and prior to that a founder and Managing Director of Ulin, Morton, Bradley and Welling in Boston, an early provider of corporate finance services to middle-market companies. He was a 1964 graduate of Harvard Law School and held a BA degree in economics from the University of Michigan. After service as Captain in the U.S. Army, he was a corporate finance lawyer at Debevoise and Plimpton in New York City and later Senior Vice President of Bay Financial Corporation in Boston, a NYSE listed firm. Born in Lincoln, NE, he grew up in Washington, DC when his father was Assistant Attorney General in the Eisenhower administration. Mr. Morton was a member of Tedesco Country Club in Marblehead and was active in local affairs including the Citizens Scholarship Foundation and the Marblehead Little Theatre. A talented musician in his own right, he regularly attended the BSO. He was also a member of several business associations and groups in the Boston area. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virginia, sister Marilynn McBane, daughter Carolina Mariposa and her husband Mike Wallis, daughter Christine Morton Lindemann and her husband Gary Lindemann, and grandson Peter Lindemann. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 14th at 11am at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 135 Lafayette St, Marblehead, MA.
