I only just found out about Tony's passing. I knew him from his involvement in AAPT and his generosity with his time in support of physics teachers. He was a lovely person as well as a highly regarded physicist and physics educator, and will be remembered fondly.

One of my best friends during my MIT years. Tony brightened my light and life. So much is not said in obituary. His work with Einstein and Newton. All the first year Quantum Physics students he enlightened. How he played such a key piece in the puzzle of 20th century historywhat he personally witnessed from Brighton through the War, Sputnik era, USC, MIT. A brilliant mind of breadth and depth. And deliciously humble as only an Englishman can be. It was an honor to call him my friend and I'm delighted that he enjoyed his life beyond emeritus professorship with a kindred soul. I'm deeply grateful to have known Tony and that he burned so brightly here on earth.

I was so sorry to hear of Tony's death. He taught he at Cambridge, and ran HT1 while I was on HT2, accelerators at the Cavendish. Charlie Barnes was one of his students. After Australia, I followed him to Columbia SC. and we have been in contact spasmodically ever since. He will be missed. Ron Edge
