BENJAMIN SIEDMAN Obituary

SIEDMAN, Benjamin Alexander Of Wellesley, MA died peacefully surrounded by his parents, Jennifer and Stuart Siedman and his siblings Noah (20) and Isabelle (15) on February 7, 2014. A gentle soul, Ben is remembered as a boy who loved life, the comfort of a four-legged friend be it cow or dog, a good check against the boards, music, Chinese food and always, always holding hands. His laugh was infectious and his friendship unwavering. More than anything Bens joy was time with his family. He was loved fiercely by his grandparents, his 10 aunts and uncles and 13 cousins. His battle with Sanfilippo Syndrome taught everyone he touched the meaning of courage and the importance of living in the moment. Ben was only 17 but the impact he had on this world was far greater than his age; inspiring the creation of Bens Dream and ground-breaking gene therapy research that within a year will likely provide the cure Ben always dreamed of. A Memorial Service for Benjamin will be held at the Wellesley Village Church, 2 Central Street, Wellesley on Thursday, February 13, at 3PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. A reception will be held at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Bens Dream: Sanfilippo Research Foundation, P.O. 81268, Wellesley, MA 02481. www.bensdream.org. I've only recently learned of Ben, through the Elisa website in Toronto. You are all so inspiring. Please know I will be volunteering for their upcoming gala because of you and in honour of Ben.

I've attached a photo of a duckling I cared for last summer ~ sounds like Ben would have enjoyed being a ducksitter too.

We are so sorry for the loss of your son Ben. We hope and pray and wish that you receive enough donations for the research to be done to find a cure for Sanfilippo syndrome that took the life of your beautiful and amazing child. All of the high paid athletes, musicians, celebrities, etc should be pitching in DONATIONS to achieve the goal of raising the money that you and others need to complete the research and testing that is needed to cure this disease and know BEN will be extremely proud once the cure is found!!

I am so very sorry to hear that Ben has passed away. Although I have not been in touch , I have thought of Ben and your family often. I was always so impressed at the way you immediately began raising money to find a cure. I would like to express my sympathy to the Siedman family in this very difficult time. May you find peace in the memories you keep close to your heart.
