WILLIAM WHITE Obituary

WHITE, William Fergus Jr. William Fergus White, Jr. passed away at the White Plains Hospital, New York on August 4, 2018 at the age of 83 after a long illness. He was born on March 4, 1935 in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. White attended Boston Latin School from 1947 to 1953. He received a B.A. in Government from Harvard University in 1957 and an L.L.B. from Harvard Law School in 1960. As a freshman at Harvard, he played on the junior varsity hockey team. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed skiing and golf. Upon law school graduation, he was hired as an Attorney in the Office of Opinion Writing at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. From 1961 to 1965, he worked as an Associate Attorney at the Boston law firm, Nutter, McClennen & Fish LLP, specializing in securities, corporate and real estate law. For many years, Mr. White was the General Counsel and Senior Vice President of HRT Industries, Inc. in New York City and Los Angeles. From 1985 to his retirement in 2010, he was in private practice in Los Angeles, specializing in estate planning, probate, corporate and real estate law. He is survived by his first wife, Marion Moffat White of Greenwich, Connecticut; his two daughters of that marriage, Rebecca Moffat White of Burlington, Vermont; Marion Elizabeth Amore of Rockaway, New York; and his third daughter, Margaret Anne Totty of Los Angeles, California from a second marriage to Annetta Bancroft, who predeceased him; his sister Jane Linsay and her husband, Ernest Linsay of Hockessin, Delaware; his four granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa of Avilla Church at 10 o'clock. Visiting hours Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
