JAMES FULLERTON Obituary

FULLERTON, James C. James Culbertson Fullerton, of Wellesley, died June 15, 2018. Jim was born in New York, NY on December 5, 1927 to Edward D. and Marion (Ryan) Fullerton. He moved to Wellesley in 1932, and attended Wellesley Schools, graduating from Gamaliel Bradford Senior High School (Wellesley High School) in 1945. He attended Harvard University before entering the United States Navy. Jim served two years aboard the USS Albermarle AV5 in the Pacific as a radio technician, 1st class where he witnessed several of the first A bomb trials at Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands. After completing his service, Jim returned to Harvard, and graduated as part of the extended class of 1949 in 1951. In 1954, he graduated from Harvard Law School and went to work for Henry D. White, Esq., one of the oldest law firms in Boston. He then joined the Wellesley law firm of Jameson, Locke and Fullerton where he practiced law for nearly 45 years, as well as practicing for many years on Nantucket. Jim was admitted to the US Supreme Court Bar in 1984. He retired from Locke, Fullerton and Lundwall in 2003. Since 1933, Jim was a summer resident of Kennebunkport, ME and also enjoyed many summers on Nantucket. Throughout his life, he was a member of St. John the Evangelist, St. James and St. Paul Parishes in Wellesley. He was a member of Wellesley Town Meeting, served on the Wellesley Advisory Committee from 1965-198, and the Wellesley Housing Authority from 1981-1986. A longtime member of the Wellesley Club, he served as president from 1975-1976. Jim was a private pilot for over 50 years who flew out of Norwood Memorial Airport. He flew for Angel Flight and was a longtime member of the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission. Jim is survived by his son William J. Fullerton of Wellesley, daughter Elizabeth D. Fullerton of Williston, VT and granddaughter Julia N. Fullerton. He is also survived by his sister Ellen F. Sweeny of Maynard, brother Edward D. Fullerton and his wife Judy of Henderson, NV; as well as his former wife Phyllis N. Fullerton of Williston, VT and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, June 19 from 4-7 PM at the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. WELLESLEY HILLS. A private interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made, in Jim's memory, to Saint Anthony's Franciscan Monastery, P.O.
