I never met Mr. Shepherd, but benefitted immensely from the mature and capable interns that worked with me at Dorchester Bay EDC in Boston for the past five summers. I am forever grateful for the opportunities and resources created by the Shepherd Foundation and was always touched by the many stories from DBEDC staff and interns who had the pleasure of meeting the Shepherds each year in Vermont.

I did not know him well, or for long, but he has made an indelible memory, handling illness with grace, humor, optimism, and intelligence. I still laugh at the jokes he would greet me with every morning! my heart goes out to his family, for the loss of such a wonderful person. I am sure his spirit will live forever in the loving hearts of his family and community. ellen krag, emerson and stow.

Nancy's choice of a life partner became a fruitful marriage for them both and for many, many other good people. Tom's choice of Nancy likewise showed good sense and a prayerful response to God's loving care. May the stories of their 62 years together continue to inspire, encourage and strengthen their family, their church and the wider community in the days ahead. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.

I can't claim to have known Tom well, but even my occasional connections impressed on me what a solid pillar of grace he was; completely and utterly engaged by life and the opportunities to help whenever and wherever he could.

Was there ever anyone who enjoyed life more than Tom Shepherd? When we think of nice, kind, inclusive, embracing, smart, humorous, and caring, we think of Tom Shepherd. A true gentleman to the core. He made our childhood special, along with Nancy and Katie, Ruthie, Lisa, and Nate. What fond memories we have of spending time with the Shepherd family in Orchard Park and in Stow. One of the best memories is recalling Dad and Tom together with their quick wit and shared appreciation of each other. Tom was a great man who touched many, especially our family. We send lots of love and caring thoughts to the Shepherds and know how much you must miss him. Always, Martha Russell Davis, Rob Russell, and Lisa Russell Stockman

My uncle Tom Shepherd was a loving and generous guy who never wanted to miss a joke or a dance. He wasn't too proud to play the fool at times, but he was nobody's fool, and people listened to what he had to say. Tom Shepherd will be known to many for his good works and the inspiration he gave to us. He was a moral exemplar to me, who had his head on straight and his heart in the right place and an unerring sense that most decisions were simple matters of faith and courage. He has left the world a better place, but his absence leaves a wide gap in it.

We were fortunate to serve on Trinity's Vestry when Tom was the Senior Warden.
Tom was always very generous with his time, talent and treasure and it was obvious to all how much he loved Trinity Chapel.
From organizing and Chairing Trinity's annual Strawberry Festival and Christmas Fair to setting up and breaking down events at Trinity, Tom lived the motto of 'just do it'. We are sure that he is dancing and smiling down upon us; may we all remember his kindness, generosity and sense of humor. We feel privileged to have known him. May God bless and wrap his arms around Tom, Nancy and Family.
Holding Tom in our hearts. Love, Jean Crossman and Carol Emery, Friends, Westminster, MA
