I am just finding this out....Frank was a lifelong friend. He was a musical mentor and hero to me. We went to college together and shared amazing moments as adults making music together, traveling through Europe, playing shows, making records. We also shared tough times and I always wanted to be there for Frank. Not long ago we spent a night together watching DJ Premier perform and reminiscing. We spoke in early April about getting together in the basement studio and making noise. I wish I knew this when it happened. I want his family to know how special he was to me and to our friends around the world. Frank taught me so much and was such a good friend. Frank, your inspiration and wisdom will live on with me. I'm so sad you're gone. I love you.

Frank was a true friend and a wonderful, talented person. We worked together creatively for many years, and I was looking forward to seeing him again this summer. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing, but also very grateful for all of the energy and love that he brought to the world.

So saddened to hear this tragic news. I remember Frank so well as a young boy when John and family would give concerts at the Kodaly Center of America summer courses at what is now UMass Dartmouth. My deepest sympathies to John and Laura and extended family for such a devastating loss.

I worked with Frank and remember that from the moment I met him he struck me as sharp as a tack, funny, practical, and dedicated to his work and interests. My deepest condolences to his family and all those who knew him best. He will be sorely missed.

I can still see Frank as a boy on the dock at CBI. He and Laura were always the best kids, what a tragic loss. My deepest condolences to the extended Heiss family and friends.

I knew Frank since when we played music together as kids. Ever since that time the passion with which he pursued his dreams and ideals was a great inspiration for me. The last time I saw Frank it seemed like he had reached a plateau of happiness and satisfaction in his life and that was a great inspiration to me too. His friendship will be sorely missed.

Frank was one of the lights of my life. I can honestly say that spending time with him was usually the highlight of my week. He would consistently encourage me to strive to become the best version of myself. A piece of me is missing without him hear. Frank was a great friend and very outgoing. Had many great and lengthy conversations that would last for days. his laugh was unmistakeable and his smile would light up a room. I'm genuinely saddened and heartbroken at his passing. Shine on you crazy diamond!
