Joanne was the feelings teacher when my son Jonathan and daughter Katie were students at Haynes School. Joanne helped my children and our family deal with the loss of Jonathan in 1997 to cancer when he was just 7 years old. She will always hold a special place in our hearts. I was so very sorry to learn that Joanne has left us. Although we had not seen one another for many years I remember her with great fondness and admiration. I recall being struck by the manner in which she listened to those young children - always "present" in the moment and giving each one her complete and undivided attention.
All three of my children attended Haynes School and were lucky both to know her and benefit from Joanne's wise and compassionate advice.

Joanne was supportive of many cohorts of Haynes students. She was, however, a special friend to the Boston students who benefitted from her daily kindnesses, and her thoughtful recognition of their unique place in the school community. I will remember her with great fondness and gratitude.

Joanne was one of my favorite camp counselors at Camp Tel Noar! She had a great smile and always made me laugh. I know Steve already wrote a short note, but I just had to tell all of you how sorry we are for your tremendous loss of Joanne. Jessica spent so much time in your house during those early years eating macaroni & cheese with Stephanie. Your home was like her own. I remember the special good-bye party Joanne made for jessica at your house when we were moving away. The time you visited us in Florida & when we visited you in Boston and Joanne took us on the duck boats. I am glad jessica got to reconnect with Stephanie in DC, and hope when she is ready she will reach out to her again! We have the warmest memories of Joanne with her big heart & vivacious personality! Serge and Family,
Joanne was a warm and loving presence from the first day we walked into the Haynes School in 1999. She cared deeply for her students and their families and it showed. Personally her warmth and comfort during a tragic family situation is something I will always remember. Thank you for sharing her with all of us at Haynes. I will always remember running into you in Mashpee and being greeted by her huge smile. She will be terribly missed. A very special angel for all.
