William Brathwaite was a remarkable humanitarian. He and Barbara, together with their wonderful family, were like guardian angels who guided me with kindness and generosity through my years at Harvard Law School. Because of the extraordinary sacrifices of Bill and Barbara, I graduated from a school that is so very far away from my home in New Mexico.
A profound debt of thanks is owed to Bill and to the family. Barbara, please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

We are very sorry for your loss. Bill was a great man, always volunteering his time and love to St James
church. I can remember while working on the church you could count on Bill to be there leading the way. I will miss his beautiful voice in his spot in the back right corner of the church.

I will miss the love he showed for family and his genuine gift of humor. When I was 6 yrs, old and the family was gathered at my grandmother's for one of the holidays, I had cracked open quite a few walnuts then I could not eat all of them. My father insisted that I eat them when my big cousin Billy came to my rescue. We went out to the back porch and he ate most of them for me. He has always been there for any one of us when we have been in need. Love you, Billy and miss you for you were the best of cousins.
