Dedication to a cause and the organizations you belong to is exemplary. Capt. Heinstadt will be remembered by our MCB-12 Association. We will memorialize him in our book of members who precede us to serve the Great Commander. Our condolences to his family, friends and associates in so many of his endeavors.

A proud son of Baltimore he was always good for a story about his childhood at his fathers bar. A true gentleman who loved helping all young or old. He was generous with his time and spooned my son for this trip to ASP. Years later He joined us on an ASP week and I marveled at how strong and tough minded he was to keep working in the blistering heat. When I teased him about his age he was never lost for a sharp retort. A tough city kid with a twinkle in his eye and a heart of gold. Our lost here on earth is heavens gain.......until we meet again watch over us John.....

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

These are kids helping kids. That is the explanation John used to persuade the School Committee, at the time, to enable the Duxbury Appalachia Service Project of Holy Family to sell Krispy Kreme donuts at a Thanksgiving football game. Over 750 dozen donuts were sold, deeming the sale a huge success! John cut through the politics and simply told it for what it was - Kids helping kids. That was John!
