Mary Pyle Obituary

Veteran, aged 81 of Tyngsboro, formerly of Chelmsford and wife of the late John H. Pyle, died May 16, 2003. Retired Directorate Secretary in AWACS at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford. A graduate of St. Columbkille's in Brighton, MA in 1940, she joined the United States Women's Army Air Corps where she served in Germany at the U.S. Constabulary Headquarters and in the United States before being honorably discharged in June of 1948. She studied art and sculpture at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, Vesper George School of Art, Harvard University Extension School and also through the Lowell Art Association at the Whistler House in Lowell. A former member of the Chelmsford Art Society, she was the Chairwoman of the "Little People's Place" event for children for several years. Mother of John E. Pyle and his wife Heather of Washington, State, Robert B. Pyle and his wife Deborah of Tyngsboro and Marilyn Stowe and her husband Christopher Allen of New Ipswich, NH. She also leaves five grandchildren, Corrie Pyle, Jessica Pyle, Robert Pyle Jr., Jeffrey Pyle and Ashlyn Allen. Sister of Walter Hickey of FL, Ralph Hickey of Chelmsford, Robert Hickey of Brockton and the late Helen June Lombardi. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday morning at 9 O'clock at St. Mary's Church, Chelmsford. Burial at West Chelmsford Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD, MA on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friends who desire may make contributions to the charity of their choice. www.blakefuneralhome.com
