I had feared Halina had passed when my last two Christmas cards to her were returned. I had not seen her since 1991, but I always looked forward to her letters. I met Halina in 1975-6 when we were neighbors in Bad Godesberg, Germany. She was so vibrant and fully alive, and I enjoyed our friendship more than I can say. Then distance took its toll, but I still loved hearing from her. Her joy at becoming a grandmother was beautiful, and she was always so proud of Les' accomplishments. I am so sorry to have my fears confirmed. She was one of a kind, and I grieve that I will not have a chance to see her again.

I remember Halina singing songs in Polish into the late night with Paul at the piano. She shared many happy times with us. I am so sorry that we lost such a great friend.
