Charles Osgood Obituary
Of Tewksbury, formerly of Saugus & Carver, January 23. Beloved husband of Barbara R. (Grant) Osgood. Loving father of Donald C. Osgood & his wife Jane of Saugus, Robert W. Osgood & his wife Jane of Braintree, Charles B. Osgood, Jr. & his wife Mary of Wilmington, Barbara J. Powers & her husband Ernest of North Reading, William A. Osgood & his wife Kendra of Amesbury. Brother of Nancy Osgood & her husband Jon Deigert of PA & the late Robert Osgood & Joyce Donahue. Also survived by 12 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS, on Monday at 11 a.m. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hour 1 hour prior from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02215. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Charlie at age 17 pitched for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1944. Late US Coast Guard WWII Veteran. Former Boston Globe Employee. My only regret is that I never got to meet Charles in person, and thank him for his wonderful commentaries on the American Movie Classics channel and Turner Broadcasting. The tone of his voice and the passion it conveyed was something special, and no one else will ever be able to replicate.

I loved the tone of his voice " this is CBS this morning with Charles Osgood Good Morning " he would say. I watched him every Sunday morning he will surely be missed in my home and he and his family will bein my prayers.

As a fan member of the MLBPAA, I like to send my condolences to the entire family. I was never able to play the game due to my asthma, but I appreciate everything the ball player does on and off the field. Many never realize that they make a difference by answering fan mail or speaking to them on the phone. Thank you Mr. Osgood for being a ball player in the game I enjoy to watch, and talk about.
