A renowned and respected expert on U.S.-Russian relations I had pleasure of knowing and traveling to Russia in mid 70's. We could use his wisdom today

Dr. Goldman was my professor at Wellesley in 1982-83. I enjoyed his class tremendously, but what I really enjoyed was being in the presence of such a smart and insightful man twice a week for a semester. He was lovely and kind and he helped me understand so much in terms of economics, but also in terms of embracing my intellect. My deepest condolences,

Dear Merle, Avra, Karla, Ethan & Seth, and Rhoda, I learned of Marshall's death just a few moments ago. I grieve for you all.

In one way or another, the Goldman and Eisner families have been connected for nearly four decades. What began as a chance business encounter has grown into a relationship with your family that Staci and I have truly treasured. The stories I have of Marshall are too numerous; in short he was, and remains, a man of true integrity and brilliance, with love for his family (first and foremost), his profession, and his friends. My father counted Marshall as one of his "one-hand friends" (those "best of the best" that you could count on one hand. I will miss him, as I know you will. And I will always recall with thankfulness the great lessons for life he has left me.

Staci and I send our love and deepest condolences.

As a former Wellesley student, Professor Goldman's intellect, precision and passion was an inspiration to me. Post Soviet era, he helped so many of us understand the world that was changing before our very eyes. His impact on my intellectual development was profound. RIP, Professor Goldman and peace to his family. I suspect angels and scholars are sitting alongside him as he regales them with tales of politics and history...

What an amazing life filled with true impact on so many. His son Seth, whom I know is truly a reflection of an inspiring legacy that Professor Goldman has left us. My condolences to the family.

Dear Karla and family,

Marshall and Merle were always wonderful to us over the years. They welcomed us with open arms when we arrived in Boston 36 years ago, and Marshall, in particular, was helpful in my career, giving generously of his time for events at Harvard. We haven't seen the family in recent years, but we will always remember fondly the family Hanukkah parties. Our deepest condolences. Cousins David & Terry Yoffie

Dear Karla,
I am a distant cousin who lives in St. Charles, IL. When my father, Marvin Cohen, passed away 20 years ago, Marshall wrote the most beautiful letter to my mother!
Marshall spoke of memories he had of Marvin's friendship growing up.
May you find comfort in the wonderful memories you shared with Marshall.
