I met Stanley when we were both students at the University of Chicago, circa 1953. We met because we were in the same dorm and because of the similarity of our last names, we would get each other's mail. We became life long friends. We hit it off and spent a lot of time what they call today "hanging". We were both night persons and I remember that we used to go to the Toddle House about ten blocks from the dorm to have a steak sandwich as late as one or two in the morning. We bonded during that one year or one semester and kept in touch for over half a century. I used to tell people that he was the most famous person that I knew. The last time I saw him was when the Sociology Association had an annual meeting in Atlanta and he had dinner with my wife and me. We did not have much hanging after that time in Chicago, but we loved each other and I miss him. (March 19, 2019)

Please accept my condolences. My heartfelt sympathy
go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
Sincerely,
Dianne
