One of, if not Steve´s first job, was as artist in my father´s advertising agency Denman and Baker, Inc. in Detroit. I have several paintings he made for me and a carving of my father Steve did from a piece of firewood. They didn´t mention it here, but Steve did the artwork for the Eisenhower-Nixon presidential campaign in Michigan.
Steve was an amazing artist and and amazing friend.

Thank you Marley. I have a lot of his art in my house and specifically framed his "poem/essay" The River of Ideas. Miss his flowing thoughts and creativeness. One day brought him an idea of a dog toy...all he said was, "It will not sell in China" - opened up my thinking to selling internationally.

I found a small piece of his art in a curio shop in Gloucester and thankfully he dedicated and signed it on the back. After reading these lovely comments and other articles about his life, the small piece of his art will be treasured by me for years to come. I do not know Stavros personally and it appears I might have missed out on a great human. Thankfully our art out lives us all.

I worked for Steve as a young 20 year old. My very first job. He made me meet him at 4:30am in the morning. I was his personal assistant for 2 years sitting directly outside of his office. I remember many crazy times.... I will always remember him giving me my first job out of college (well actually I hadn't graduated from BC) but he hired me anyways...2 months in advance of it. Hope everyone who worked there is doing well. All the best the Cosmopolus family! Steve was one of a kind! Prayers in to him above! courtney frank

We are all lucky enough to meet memorable people in our lives, on occasion, but few of us are fortunate enough to meet someone who you could never forget. For me that Stravros (Steve) Cosmopulos. Kind, Compassionate and generous are just a few words that describe him best. Rest in peace my friend and may God have mercy on your soul.

I met Stavros while I worked at the old Back Bay post office. We often had friendly chats at the window. I best remember him for his OFD Originally From Dorchester items which he said he created gratis.

I miss you so much Dad.
January 22, 2015
He was my friend, mentor, advisor, guiding light for all the professional endeavors that created...Whenever I thought I could not do something, he would always call and ask, "So how are you? What's happening?"
One day, I brought an idea for a dog toy to his office, all he had to say was, "It won't sell in China." This taught me about the need for an international focus. I will miss him a lot. Am grateful that the last lunch we had, I could pick up the tab...A nice change after all the years he had treated me. Rachel Selikoff,

Very, very sad to hear the news of Stavros's death. What a breath of fresh air he was when I met him in the early 1990s. We kept in touch for years and I am the proud possessor of some wonderful prints he sent me. I feel really privileged to have known him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May cherished memories carry you all through this sad time.
I met Steve and Rena 20 + years ago while teaching nutrition. With his huge creative and generous spirit, Steve developed my teaching props into one of-a-kind models for large and small audiences! Still gratefully use them all to teach patients with a proud mention their creator. Am blessed and lucky to have met him.

He was first, first among his peers.
The first person I think of when someone uses the words “Creative Director”.
The first person I knew to influence thousands who now think of him as their own very special mentor.
The first person to demand of you more than you thought possible, and get it.
The first person to get to work – period.

OFD- Steve came to me in the mid 1980's and told me he wanted to form a loose organization called "Originally From Dorchester." Proud he was of his Dot roots, and it was his genius to create a wonderful slogan that has found its way into the lexicon of our wonderful city. We have published scores of stories in our newspaper, the Dorchester Reporter, and we gave him a lifelong subscription to our paper. We always mailed it to him co another one of his creations, "Friends of the Forest." Hw proudly invented OFD to shout out, in his words, "the good fortune to be originally from Dorchester, Massachusetts, U.S.A
I will cherish forever his friendship, and extend to his family the words of John Henry Cardinal Newman, a prayer that has helped me in my times of grief:
"May He support us all the day long, till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and a holy rest and peace at the last."
Stavros, your work is complete. Peace to you and to your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I met Steve in college when he spoke at BU. Alan Holliday had him speak to our class and I spent time with him afterward. Alan and Steve inspired me to succeed in the advertising world. I am blessed and lucky to have met him. I'd like to think he and Alan are in heaven cooking up some great concepts!

I knew Steve the way most of us knew him: As the man who put Hill Holliday Connors Cosmopulos on the map, as the man every young creative person in Boston needed to meet, as a rebel, a jokester, a genius. Thanks, Steve. For opening the door and making room for ideas.

I always looked forward to dads call on my birthday when he would tell me the story of my adoption. He was sitting in his office in Palm Beech when he got the call asking him if he and mom would like to come take a look at a beautiful little baby boy. He would tell me that it was the luckiest day of his life.
Having raised 3 wonderful boys of my own I know exactly how he felt.
But in the end I'm the luckiest one of all for having such a great and wonderful life with him.
