Dear Peg, John, Meg & William
So sorry to hear of your loss. You don't know me but I want to share something with you. On Tuesday, May 7th, 1968 @ 9:40 PM your husband Bill literally saved my husband's life. Jack MacDonald worked with Bill on Engine 28/Ladder 10 Jamaica Plain & responded to a fire. While venting the roof of a vacant 3 story building on Emcsella Terrace in Jamaica Plain the chimney collapsed crushing Jack & leaving him hanging from the edge of the building. Bill held the chimney off of Jack while holding him & preventing him from falling. Jack ended up with multiple injuries including a broken bone in his back. He fully recovered after months off duty and thanks to Bill was able to be with us, enjoy retirement & his family. We had two of our three children then. I am forever thankful to Bill. Just another wonderful thing for you to remember this selfless man by. You now have another reason to be proud of him
Thank you just does not seem like enough after all the years he gave us.
Sincerely with Love,
Paula MacDonald & family
