Andranik Mirzabegian was born in Tehran, Iran on May 15, 1923 and immigrated to the United States in 1978.

After graduating from Alborz College in Tehran, he spent 35 years working as a translator in the United States Information Agency. As part of his job he had the opportunity to meet President Jimmy Carter when he visited Iran. While in school at Alborz, he would make trips to his childhood village to teach young students the Armenian language.

He loved life and its simple pleasures. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time in his garden, deep sea fishing, hunting, and had a passion for dancing.

Andranik volunteered in his community and was known for his famous kebobs he prepared for the annual picnics. But above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.
