ANGELO TOYIAS Obituary
TOYIAS, Angelo Of Brookline, January 22, 2013. Angelo was born in Boston, MA on Oct. 19, 1933 to the late Peter and Antonia (Sarruda) Toyias. He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Engineering and was elected to the University's Hall of Fame for his three-sport accomplishments starring in football, baseball and track and field. Angelo spent several years as a Manager with AVCO corporation. In his retirement years, he enjoyed working at Metropolitan Life. He was extremely active in his Church, in his former years at the Greek Cathedral in Boston and more recently at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Weston. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Hellenic College-Holy Cross Seminary in Brookline and on the Alexander The Great Executive Committee at the Museum of Fine Arts. Angelo was the beloved husband of the late Thalia (Scantalides) Toyias. He was the brother of James Toyias of Belmont. Cousin of John Paraskos of Dover. Uncle of Maria Barnes of Billerica. Brother-in-law of Peter Scantalides of Lynnfield and the late John Scantalides of Burlington. He is also survived by relatives, neighbors and friends. Angelo was a devoted, loving husband and good friend to all. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife. He will be dearly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. A visitation will be held in St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown Street, Weston on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. Followed by a funeral service at 10:30 Am. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Walnut Hills Cemetery, Brookline. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Hellenic College, 50 Goddard Ave, Brookline, MA 02445.
