1933 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
WHEELER, Barbara G. (Johnston) Of Bolton, 82, died Monday, May 2, 2016 and is now in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. She leaves her husband of 58 years, Clyde R. Wheeler; a son, Philip Wheeler, and his wife, Shelle, of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Laurie Ayres, and her husband, Paul, of Bolton; two brothers: Robert Johnston of Stoneham, and Francis Johnston of Bridgeton, Maine; six grandchildren: Elizabeth Smith, Amanda Marhefka, Thomas Ayres, Margaret Wheeler, Philip Johnston Wheeler Jr., and Andrew Wheeler; three great-grandchildren: Julia, Lauren and Zach Smith; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four siblings: William, Edward and Thomas Johnston, and Mary Williamson. Barbara was born in Medford and raised in Somerville, daughter of Thomas and Jessie (Torrance) Johnston. A graduate of Somerville High School, she attended Boston University, and had been a resident of Bolton for 58 years. For many years, she worked as a Teller at Middlesex Savings Bank, at their Cambridge and Maynard locations. A founding member of Trinity Church, Bolton, Barbara was a former financial secretary, and Sunday School Teacher, and sang in the church choir for 50 years. A woman of great faith, she texted Bible verses to her six grandchildren each Sunday. In addition, she was a former member of the Bolton and Nashoba Regional School Committees. A memorial service for Barbara will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Church, 14 Wattaquadock Hill Road, Bolton, MA 01740. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Church Refresh Fund at the above address.
