Obituary Condolences

LaFRANCE, Barbara (Curley) 89, of Falmouth, formerly of Hingham and Belmont, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, after a long illness. Barbara was the loving wife of her husband of 66 years, Robert A. LaFrance. She was the daughter of the late Dr. John J. Curley and his wife Agnes (King) Curley of Leominster and was pre-deceased by two brothers, John J. Jr. and David H. Curley, both of Leominster. In addition to her husband Bob, Barbara is survived by her two sons, Mark C. of Braintree and Robert A. Jr., of Canton and his two children, Carly N. and Noel R. of Canton, and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was a 1944 graduate of Leominster (MA) High School, after which she attended the Stoneleigh Burnham School in Greenfield and went on to graduate from Boston University in 1949 where she was a member of the Scarlet Key Honor Society. She cherished summers in Falmouth, where she loved gardening, knitting, bird carving, playing tennis and bridge, and had a passion for cooking. She was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. Barbara always put her family before herself, even as she courageously battled health issues in recent years. It is this caring and love that she will be most remembered for. At Barbara's request, visiting hours have been omitted. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, Oct 7, at St. Patrick's Church, 511 Main St., Falmouth, MA. Burial will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 12:45pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis MA 02601.
