Obituary Condolences

MELVIN, Barbara M. 75, of Mashpee, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 18, 2016. She was the beloved wife of James A. Melvin Jr. and daughter of the late John and Margaret Gould. Barbara worked as an LPN for many years until her retirement. She and her husband are parishioners at Christ the King Church in Mashpee. She was an active woman who loved the outdoors and enjoyed sailing, hiking, and gardening. She had a passion for rug hooking and loved to cook especially for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. In addition to her loving husband James of 56 years, she is survived by 3 children, Jeffrey J. Melvin and fiancee Jayne of Medfield, James M. Melvin and wife Kristine of Carlisle, Beth Marcus and husband Todd of Centerville, 4 siblings, Michael Gould, James Gould, Gerald Gould, Peggy (Gould) Olson, 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, Katherine, Connor, Jacob, McKenzie, Harrison, and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151) MASHPEE, on Wednesday June 22, 2016 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Church 3 Job's Fishing Rd. Mashpee on Thursday June 23, 2016 at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Great Neck Woods Cemetery in Mashpee.
