BARRY GOUGHAN Obituary

Alfred ""Chip"" Goughan, wife Teresa, Carrollton, TX.

Barry was a loving husband and father to his three children. Barry and Lois were married in February of 1961. Barry advanced his career in the hospitality industry in executive leadership with The Howard Johnson's Company and later Marriott. His job took him to the Midwest and to the Boston areas. Over the course of their travels the couple established long and lasting friendships that remain in place today. He later retired and took time off before managing the Cohassett Golf club for some 10 years.

Barry's cottage on Truant's Island was his piece of paradise. He invited many friends and guests to "the island" to gather in celebration of life and friendship. Many fond memories are recalled by those who were fortunate enough to call Barry their friend or even an acquaintance who he and Lois graciously welcomed.

Barry was a loving Grandfather to his nine grandchildren. He was a symbol of giving in both his time and money to causes greater than himself including: The Pine Street Inn, Sharing Inc., St. Joseph's Orphanage, St. Mary's Food Bank, Pastoral visits with St. Cecelia's CARES Team and regularly served meals at Nativity Prep in Jamaica Plain to the young students as well as countless other causes. Barry was the first to offer up his hospitality expertise for any cause and several benefits and charities that requested his assistance...nothing was too much or too big for Barry to organize or volunteer for. He traveled to Haiti on several occasions to serve in a church sponsored missions and has sponsored several orphaned children for decades with his wife, Lois.

He will be greatly missed for his love, friendship and dedication by all those who knew him.

Services will be held at St. Cecilia's Parish on Saturday, July 14th at 10 a.m. at 18 Belvedere St., Boston, MA 02115, Ph: 617.536.4548. On street parking will be reserved for the funeral on Belvedere and St. Cecilia Streets.
