TAURO, Benito "Benny" Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Community Activist Of East Boston passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 24th, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of 57 years of Debora (Colarossi). Devoted father of Mark Tauro and his wife Mina of Westwood, Paul Tauro and his wife Diana of Melrose, Linda Scarpa and her husband Michael of Melrose, Daniel Tauro and his wife Lena of Stoneham and the late Steven Tauro and his surviving wife Michelle of Winthrop. Dear brother of the late Patrick Tauro. Cherished grandfather of 12 loving grandchildren. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Family and friends will honor Benny's life by gathering at St. Joseph - St. Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley St., East Boston on Tuesday March 27th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM for a Funeral Mass in celebration of Benny's life. Benny was a devoted member of the East Boston community constantly serving on various boards and committees that helped make the neighborhood a better place. Benny served Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for decades in various roles. He was a true champion of the Parish and fought for years to keep the church open. Past member of the Boston Zoning Board of Appeals. Benny hosted an annual BBQ for the Boston Police and the men and women of East Boston District Court for many years. It was his way to honor those who served the community. He was instrumental to the community and will be missed by all. Services will conclude with Benny being laid to rest with his beloved son Steven at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. At the family's request floral contributions are respectfully omitted.
