CROWLEY, Bernard F. Of Melrose and Duxbury, formerly of Reading and Winchester after a long battle with cancer on April 6. Beloved husband of Bette-luise (Kneeland) Crowley. Loving father of Dianna Chalas and her husband George of Winchester, Bette-lu Crowley of Melrose and her fiance Fred Burdett of Palm Beach, FL, Susanne Carey and her husband Nick of Winchester, Bernard "Biff" Crowley and his wife Jeannie of Milton, James Crowley and his partner Bennet Phillips of Asheville, NC. Devoted grandfather of John & Andrew Chalas, Evan & Parker Carey, and James, William & Anna Crowley. A Funeral will be held from the Lane Funeral Home 760 Main St. (Rte.38) WINCHESTER on Thursday April 11th at 9 AM. Followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Church 158 Washington St., Winchester at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Wildwood Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Bernie (Sonny), was a 1956 graduate of Norwich University where he was a member of Skull and Swords and president of his fraternity SAE. Bernie was very active and dedicated to the Norwich Alumni Association. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for several years before starting a 45 year career in the insurance business. Bernie was co-owner of the Child-Genovese Insurance Agency in Boston. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed many decades on the tennis court. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bernie may be made to the Bette and Bernard Crowley Scholarship Fund, Winchester High School, P.O.
