LEHRER, Betsy (Betty) M. Born in Fowler, IN, on June 8th 1932, passed away on Sunday, May 22th at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA. She was 83 years old.|
Betsy was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years William Marvin Lehrer. She leaves behind two sons, Charles Lehrer of Providence, RI and Joshua Lehrer of New York, NY. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren, Adam (28) of Brooklyn, NY, Evan (26) of Providence, RI, Meghan (24) of Franklin, MA, May (13) of New York, NY and Tommy (11) of New York, NY.
Betsy met her husband Bill in Chicago, IL. They moved to Wellesley, MA in 1958 and spent most of their lives there. Later in life they moved to Sandwich, MA and wintered in Point Clear, AL.
Betsy was a strong-willed and loving person who was protective of those she loved. She loved traveling, noting Istanbul as her personal favorite of the countless cities she had visited during her life. There were few things she loved more in life than good fine dining surrounded by friends and family. She liked to occupy her free time with her nose in a good mystery novel.
She was very active within the Democratic Party and worked in the community, particularly as a member of her town's Council on Aging. Betsy was owner of Photofabrication Engineering, Inc. of Milford, MA, a manufacturer of precision and decorative metal parts. She held the position of VP of Decorative Sales, and she was an officer of the corporation.
A celebration of Betsy's life will be held at the Pilot House restaurant in Sandwich, MA on the Cape Cod Canal (14 Gallo Road) on June 28th between 4 PM and 8 PM. Arrangements under the direction of the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, MA.
