I often had difficulty understanding concepts in one of Professor Giessen's classes. He always took the time to help students work through problems and would consistently schedule time outside of his traditional office hours to help study groups. He brought life and humor to a subject traditionally viewed as dry and boring. The dedication he brought to the classroom was a true inspiration, and his passing is a great loss to the academic community.
