CAROL RUTH GRAY Obituary
GRAY, Carol Ruth (Soloway) Feb 7, 1936 - May 11, 2016, Passed away at Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton, Florida on Wednesday. Carol was the youngest child of Alec Soloway and Irene Sadie Laurie, and sister to Elaine Pincus, Sylvia Soloway (deceased) and Richard Soloway (deceased). Carol leaves behind her two sons from her first husband Herbert Goldman (Gray): Douglas Gray and Alexander Gray, and their families. Carol also leaves behind her life partner of 24 years, Charles Ackerman, and other family members. Born in Medford, MA, Carol attended the University of New Hampshire and Framingham State College, where she earned her Bachelors. She earned her Master's in Education from Boston University. After years of teaching, Carol had a lifelong career in neuromuscular massage therapy and was an advocate for exercise and healthy living. Carol retired to Sarasota, Florida with Charles Ackerman. She was a volunteer Docent at the Ringling Ca d'Zan, while working as a substitute teacher at a Bradenton elementary school. She had a passion for reading, theatre, history, music, trivia, crossword puzzles and travel. Carol always tried to live life to the fullest and had a positive outlook. She particularly enjoyed helping people who were in pain. She was diagnosed with a terminal illness in November of 2015. She was beloved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends and all who knew her.
