1938 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
KING, Carolyn Nason Passed away in Sarasota, Florida on April 8, at the age of 77. Carolyn is predeceased by her husband, John S. King and is survived by her son, Robert DeForest Payne of Carthage, ME and her brother, Richard H. Nason of Groton, MA. She is lovingly remembered by her niece, Ashley Nason O'Brien of Northborough, MA. Carolyn was born in Cambridge, MA on December 11, 1938. She graduated from Dana Hall School in 1956, and went on to attend Smith College. She was employed in estate investment management. She was an accomplished traveler throughout Europe and Africa, and wintered in Sarasota, Florida. At home, her interests centered around summer activities, especially canoeing and kayaking. Carolyn, and her son Rob, together shared a love for bird watching and the Boston Red Sox. She was also an avid follower of the Boston Symphony and Opera. Carolyn has been a long-time volunteer with Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA. She loved the beautiful grounds and the history of Mount Auburn, and worked in historical collections and the archives. She has served on the Charles River Watershed Association Board of Advisors, and has also been a member of the Chilton Club, the Colonial Dames of America,and the Smith College Club of Sarasota. Interment will take place at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA, where a memorial reception will follow. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.legacy.com.
