1934 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
SCOTT, Catherine "Kay" S. 81, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2016. She was born in Singareni Collieries, now Andhra Pradesh, India, on December 9, 1934, to Rev. George V.B. and Catherine H. Shriver. Kay moved from India to Maryland with her family in 1945 and spent her youth in Maryland and Pittsfield, MA. She graduated from Hannah More Academy in Reisterstown, MD in 1952, and studied nursing at Hood College (Frederick, MD) and Mass. General Hospital Nursing School, graduating in 1957, then started her nursing career in Boston. She married in 1961 and lived in Florida briefly, back to Boston and finally to the Keene, NH area, where she raised her four children. She had many experiences working in the nursing field, including 26 years at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. She moved to the New Hampshire Seacoast in 1993 where she resided for the rest of her life. Throughout her life, Kay loved to contra dance and travel. She was also very involved with Habitat for Humanities, Senior Moments, and Act One theatre troupes in NH Seacoast area. She had travel adventures in Europe, the Middle East, Russia, Sri Lanka, India, Galapagos Islands, and New Zealand. She also traveled the US to visit her children in Portland, OR; Newark, DE; Tallahassee, FL; Cincinnati, OH; Norwalk, CT; and Westwood, MA. Kay is survived by her children: Karen L. (Scott) Trosset of Villanova, PA; Suzanne C. (Keith) Scott of Norwalk, CT; David G. W. (Julianna) Scott of Amherst, MA; and Timothy A. (Robin) of Portland, OR; her seven grandchildren: Matthew, Jason, Allison, Phoebe, Finneas, Theo and Oti; her brother, George V.B. Shriver, Jr. of Tucson, AZ; her niece, Jennifer Shriver of Boulder, CO and many beloved cousins and friends.
