CHARLES E. ROGERSON Obituary
ROGERSON, Charles E. Charles Edward Rogerson II, age 89, passed away peacefully at his home on August 31, 2016. Anyone who knew Charlie would agree that he was one of a kind, a snappy dresser and a true gentleman! He had a wonderful sense of humor and was well known around town. Charlie was born in Brookline, MA on August 6, 1927. He attended Gould Academy, Bethel, ME and Brookline High School before joining the U.S. Navy in 1944. Upon return from the Navy, he graduated from the New Preparatory School, Cambridge, MA in 1948. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Caroline (Wilson) Rogerson from Cohasset, MA. They shared 57 years of marriage before her death in 2007. They moved to Duxbury in 1956 where they raised their children. Charlie began his career in Investments and Banking at the Second National Bank of Boston. After working at several brokerage houses such as Coffin & Burr, Estabrook & Co., F.L. Rothschild, Stone & Webster Securities and R.W. Pressprich, he went to work for State Street Bank and Trust in Boston. He retired from State Street Bank in 1993. Charlie was an active member of the Duxbury Yacht Club for over 59 years where he loved to play golf. He served on many of the club's committees and was a director of the club 2010-2012. Charlie also served on the boards of the Rogerson Communities and the Howard Benevolent Society. He was a long time member of the Municipal Bond Club of Boston. Charlie was a talented artist who loved to draw cartoons and caricatures. His cartoons were featured in the Duxbury Clipper for many years. In 2007, he was recognized and received an award for the "best cartoonist" from the New England Newspaper & Press Association (NENPA). Charlie was predeceased by his wife, Caroline W. and his son Edward G. Rogerson. He leaves his daughter, Susannah C. Leahy and her husband, Robert E. Leahy of Duxbury, his daughter in law, Shelby C. Rogerson of Boca Raton, FL., his grandchildren, Meredith S. Rogerson of Somerville, MA, Samuel T. Rogerson of Boca Raton, Brett Leahy, Adam G. Leahy and Emmett C. Leahy all of Boston, MA. and family friend, Juan Carlos Guerrero of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Charlie will be missed by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 2pm on September 21, 2016 at the St. John's the Evangelist Church, 410 Washington Street, Duxbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cranberry Area Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth, MA 02360.
