PRATT, Charles Wolsey 76, of Exeter, NH died peacefully on May 27, surrounded by his family. Charlie is survived by his wife, Joanie, his daughter Sarah and her husband Jack Dawley of Acton, MA, and his son Timothy and his wife Kerri of Concord, NH, as well as five loving grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, John W. Pratt of Cambridge, MA and Frederick A. Pratt of Moretown, VT. Born in Boston, MA on June 1, 1935, Charlie attended Fenn School, Phillips Exeter Academy, and Princeton University before serving for two years in the Navy. He then taught English, first at Pomfret School and for more than 20 years at Phillips Exeter Academy. In 1984 Charlie and Joanie moved to Apple Annie in nearby Brentwood, NH where they grew apples together for 27 years. Charlie's lifelong passion was writing poetry and he published four books, the most recent, "From the Box Marked Some are Missing," in 2010. A service to celebrate Charlie's life will be held in Phillips Church, Front Street, Exeter, NH on June 16 at 2:00 p.m. In honor of his dedication to land conservation and stewardship, donations in Charlie's memory may be made to the Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire, PO Box 675, Exeter, NH, 03833.
