Obituary Condolences

HARDING, Chester L., Jr. Chester Lawrence Harding, Jr. ("Chet," "Pop," "The Silver Fox") of Hopkinton, MA passed away at the beginning of June. Born in Washington, DC to the late US Coast Guard Rear Admiral Chester Lawrence Harding, Sr and the late Helen Harding, he grew up all over the Continental US, London and Alaska before settling down in Beverly, MA – graduating from Beverly High School and Nasson College. He is survived by two sons, Paul Harding of Topsfield, MA and Chet Harding, III of Winchester, MA; 6 grandchildren, Sam and Ben of Topsfield, MA and Ryan, Jamie, Marielle and Keira of Winchester, MA; and two sisters, Joan Forsyth of Puerto Rico and Gail Bogucki of Connecticut. He was married to Brenda (Crosby) Harding of Wenham, MA and then later to Joan Mello of Hopkinton, MA. He worked for years as the general manager of King's Grant in Danvers, followed by stints with the National Association of Manufacturers and the Massachusetts Microelectronics Center. Later in his career he worked testing for water and food preparation contaminants, which made him a great source of information on where and where not to eat and what to avoid ordering! "Pop" was intensely proud of his grandchildren and loved to joke with them and play pranks on their annual fishing trip to West Branch Pond. He loved sports of all kinds and was happy to express his opinions on all the Boston teams as well as his political viewpoints. Per his wishes, there will be no wake or formal services. A private ceremony will be held by the family at a future date.
