To the Clement Family:
I was so sad to learn of David's passing. I worked on him in the dental office in Parker. His smile and energy were infectious and I was always so happy to see him walk through the door. His positive attitude and courage amazed and inspired me during my last visit with him and I'm so sorry I've only just learned of his passing. His family should remember he will always be there in spirit. The love and pride in his voice when he would tell me about what was going on with his wife and children was wonderful! He was a lucky and happy man, as he said many times!
This world will miss a man like that. Heartfelt condolences to his family, most especially Gina and the children.

I was shocked tonight to learn of David's passing.
Was it really that long ago that we all carried on as we competed in math class? Or that long ago that we expressed ourselves in Nancy Glancy's drama productions? Or that summer afternoon Dave and I traded stories of how life was going, a year after high school graduation? (I recall Dave had a story of working/traveling some ship on one of the great lakes.)
I attended high school reunions, always hoping Clem would be there. I always wondered what became of him, how his life has been lived. Now, I know. The news is good (a wife, kids, family), but the news is sad.
John Donne wrote, "No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee."
I know I feel diminished.

David, sorry I couldn't be there for your funeral but was I ever glad that I was able to talk with you right before your departure. I heard that you had an awesome memorial service back in Westwood. With Diane and I struggling this past few months, North Carolina and Massachusetts seem light years apart but we were with you in spirit. Looks like our "catching up" session will be delayed for awhile. Oh, I'll always remember the day you told dad with that inimitable grin on your face, "Who died and left you boss?!" It was one of those Asbrand, Davis, Clement nights back at Lake Shore Drive. You Remember. I've often wondered how that one moment in time shaped the person you became in life. It is with humor yet with reverence that I log this juicy tidbit of memorabilia. Rest in peace cousin, Bob Davis (Candler,NC)

I went to Jr. and Sr. High School in Westwood with Dave. We shared many classes, were on many teams together, and we worked in Camden, Maine, making tennis courts which was a magical time.
I will alwyas remember Clem as the human i-Tunes up in Maine...singing Simon & Garfunkel songs to help the 15+ hr. days go by...
Clem leaves his heart and soul in his 3 beautiful children, Elise, Aja and Drew. and his wonderful wife and friend Gina...
Clem, you will be missed.

I am so sorry to read this and wish the best to all the Clement family. I had a crush on David in high school (which, of course, he never knew), and it sounds like he remained the same fun, smart, nice guy throughout his life. God bless.

To Clem's Family:
I worked with Clem at the Bittersweet
in Madison, WI. Clem was always cheerful, even when the chaos seemed
overwhelming.
I knew Clem too short a time.

Gina, Elise, Aja, Drew, Aunt Betty, Barb, Carolyn, and Gary,
I'm sorry I can't be with you today, but you are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. Let the warm thoughts of those near and far help you know that David was loved and will always be remembered.
I found this poem a while back that was read, I think, by Wendell at Nana's funeral It reminds me of David.
I give you this one thought to keep-
I am with you still-I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of
quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine
at night.
Do not think of me as gone-
I am with you still-in each new dawn.
Love,
Nancy
